It's a big big stretch. I've always found it curious that being a tax collector automatically makes you a sinner. Though I find myself leaning that direction in attitude myself. Especially around the middle of April.

But back to the comparison, when the Grinch finally joined the town he was welcomed with open arms and even got to cut the roast beast. Whereas Zaccheus was greeted with raised eyebrows and hostility and the looking down of noses when Jesus went to his house.

I conclude that any resemblance between the two is accidental. Especially when considering that there are really only 7 or less basic plotlines in all of literature.
