Okay, I'll play

Book meme:

How many books do you own? Lots and lots. Too scary to contemplate counting.

Last book bought: The Kingfisher Dinosaur Dictionary. Okay, this wasn't for me. It was the last Scholastic Book Order of the school year.

Last book read: Barbara Rossing, The Rapture Exposed

Books that mean a lot: The whole Little House series, Chaim Potok, Madeline L'Engle, mystery novels--especially ones starring clergywoman slueths, MFK Fisher, other narrative style cookbooks, Jane Austen, Susan Howatch

Tag Five People: Okay, y'all are it.

What magazines do you read regularly: Christian Century, Books and Culture, Theology Today, whatever is on the table in the waiting room at the pediatrician's office.

My faves are the series by Julia Spencer-Fleming about an Episcopal clergywoman at a parish in the Adirondacks. The first in the series is In the Bleak Midwinter. Next favorite are the Merrily Watkins mysteries by Phil Rickman. Merrily is a Church of England priest who is also diocesan,(sp?) exorcist for Hereford. (Though this doesn't come up until book 2 in the series.) First book is The Wine of Angels. Then there's a series by Nancy Blake about another Episc. priest who lives in Boston and does interim work. (Good way to vary the setting) The first in that series I think is Earth Has No Sorrow. So far no Presbyterians. If I end up unemployed, maybe I'll work on that.
