History of Us

As I've mentioned before, my second grade daughter is a big American Girl fan. Due to this passion, I have recently been made aware that AG is debuting a new historical American Girl book/doll/associated paraphenalia very soon. This new American Girl will introduce today's youngsters to that long ago era of American history-----wait for it -------The 1970's!!!!

Check it out

Does anyone but me feel that this is just sick and wrong????

(Off to buy more Geritol . . .)

And our kids have 90's American Girl with tattoos, multiple body piercings and pink, purple, blue and yellow hair to look forward to.

Goin' back to my bathroom scotch tape my wrinkles back and put on makeup.

Can you imagine the focus group that thought this was a good idea, and designed the dolls? Do you suppose anyone there was over 25?

Remeber that in US pop culture 20 yeaars ago is another era (remember AMerican Graffitti and Happy Days calling the 70's back to the 50's?; dance clubs in the late 90's playing songs from the Grease soundtrack?). Of course often in US pop culture the memory seems a little different than the reality as lived....
