True comparison?

In the Sunday Oregonian there was a quote in the humor sidebar of the Living section that said: Blogging is the CB radio of this decade.

True? Or not so much? I was in middle school when the CB craze hit. My parents were not into it and it was beyond my personal purchasing power, so I pretty much missed it--aside from occassionally riding with friends who had one. (Though I did buy myself a nice mood ring.)

Hmm. I don't actually really remember the CB craze... but I would think that instant messaging is more akin. But hey, anything that gets blogging out in front of people is fine with me!

I remember the CB craze. My father installed one in my car to keep me safe as I drove distances to preach. What he didn't realize is that everytime I turned on the radio, a trucker began to flirt with me. Didn't use it much...

One similarity between CB and blogging is the adoption of nicknames--but most of the CB "handles" included some reference to driving since you only used CB in the car.

Wonder how many Red Hot Trucking Mamas are now blogging?

I bet the truckers loved flirting with a lady preacher on her way to church. I would say that wireless phones are the CBs of the decade.
